DEMOGRAPHICS - Ethnic Distribution by County
County
The counties show marked differences in their ethnic composition. The proportion that is mixed is consistent across all counties, at 18 to 22 percent in 2010. Hawai'i County has the largest proportion of Hawaiians/part-Hawaiians at 29 percent and Caucasians at 27.5 percent. Honolulu County has the largest proportion of Japanese (19 percent), Mixed (22 percent), and Chinese (4 percent). Kaua'i County has the largest proportion of Filipinos (14 percent). Maui County has the same proportion of Samoans/Tongans as Honolulu County at 1.3 percent.
